"I dare you to leap…"

Kneeling for Thomas is like skirting the edge of a fatal fall, and Dare wonders what he's gotten himself into. Why can't he just be happy with Zach, the perfect gay boyfriend? Yeah, Zach forced him out of the closet, and that was uncomfortable, but that's nothing compared to what Thomas expects from him. Subbing for Roman was cookies and milk and kindergarten naptime compared to this. He wants to trust Thomas and stop pretending, but how much pain and humiliation can one Ivy League kid handle before he comes apart?

Meanwhile, in Minnesota… Jeff continues to write hot, hot, hot D/s erotica while battling emotional trauma from the accident. It's easier to keep Jason as a buffer between himself and Roman than to face his fear of being tied up. He's tired of being broken, but how can he be fixed when he can't stay in bondage for more than fourteen minutes?

77,000 words. Gay fiction, BDSM, M/M, M/M/M, and a tiny bit of F/F/M

Dare in the Dungeon should be available at other on-line retailers within a week, just waiting on Smashwords to distribute.

Because I wuvs you all so much, I'm offering Dare in the Dungeon to early readers for a special Smashwords price of 99 cents until Halloween 2014. You must purchase at Smashwords, and at check out enter coupon code RP49L*

Have a beautiful safe weekend, darlings!

*If you've never made a purchase from Smashwords before, it's easy. The site will walk you through setting up an account. Click "Buy" on the book page,  enter the coupon code and click "apply coupon" and then "checkout". You'll then be directed to a page of download links. Choose your format (epub for Nook, mobi for Kindle) and click the appropriate download link. You may have to side load (transfer file via USB cable) to Nook, but your kindle should have been assigned an email address (typically your Amazon login email @kindle.com) and you can email an attached file right to your device. This is handy for editing and picking for typos, btw, as it's really easy to email MS Word files to a Kindle - did ya'll know that?

  1. Why can't it all be out at the same time?

  2. Because Amazon takes 12-48 hours to go "live" after upload , and because Smashwords distributes the book to b&n, kobo, iBooks, etc, which can actually take up to 30 days, although a book usually gets to those retailers within a week. Darw is love at Amazon now!

  9. ePub format should work for nook, or at least that's what I've been told. I'm sorry you're having trouble grabbing it, my intention is to make it easy to get.

    1. Thank you. I will wait, however. I found a way to read this sample online instead of by nook, but I will wait until it's out on the NOOK Color store. Hopefully soon! I have my money ready and everything! Can't wait!

  11. Phew. Just finished Dare in the Dungeon and wow. I'm kinda speechless over here. I've got a riot of emotions in my head and heart. I want to write a review but don't know how to put into words how i feel, probably because I'm not even sure how i feel. Deep sadness at certain aspect of the outcome (SM, i bet you know what i mean. *wink* ) but also deep contentment too. Which makes no sense. I think what may be inhibiting my ability to discern my true emotions about it all as a whole is the fact that I'm so dismayed that its over lol.
Oh, SM, you are a marvelous writer. My heart is heavy that your journey, our journey, with this is over. It's bitter sweet indeed. (I'm typically the one here who has a lot of !!!! in my posts, but gah, not today lol ) I promise to leave reviews once I can wrap my brain and my heart around this thing all swelled up in my being. And i'll be keeping an eye out for you, girl, in the future too. Your delicious mind is one I won't be losing sight of any time soon. Any thoughts for future projects? I'm very curious as to what you're contemplating working on next. :)

  12. Awww, thank you! Your words mean so much to me. I always leave the door open, so even though things are wrapped up nicely, if Roman and Dare and the crew start talking to me again, I'll tell more of their stories.

My next project is a stand-alone, tentatively called Julian Out of the World. I have the preliminary 60 odd pages, but I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to structure this beast. So far it's M/M, dubcon, and pretty damn sexy.

  13. *wistful sigh* you said Roman and Dare. Not Dare and Zach, not Roman and Jeff. Roman and Dare. Gods, i do love the sound of that. *puppy dog eyes* hehe. Yes, i know, that would require some serious heart-to-heart shit with Dare and Jeff first. But I'm okay with that!! Really!! I truly seriously am!! :D

    *clears throat* anyhoo...

Sweet on the next project! You're ACE with m/m so i truly can't wait. But ... what does dubcon mean again? *scratches head*

  14. Dubcon = dubious consent. Coercion. Manipulation. Head-fuckery. Heh. Generally this is a sort of all around beautiful evil and Stockholm syndrome.

  15. I enjoyed this very much. Dare is amazing, delicate, strong and lovely. I can not help but to smile when I think of this book. Thank you for this. Very rarely does a book make my heart happy, and this has done that.

  16. Thank you for such kind words, Ophelia. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  18. Hmmm.... my best guess is possibly March 2015. About 1/3 is written, and the rest of the first draft should get done during NaNoWriMo in November, and then it will have to rest and percolate until January, then editing begins. So yeah, I'm, uh, slower than some writers, but if I push it, I tend to be unhappy with the result.

  19. Here you go, SM! The review I need to gel on for a while before writing! But man, just putting my thoughts down on page made me miss this series all over again!

"As always, SM Johnson does not disappoint. In fact, she goes well past the extra mile. But then, that's always been her style, stretching the limits, exceeding the boundaries of comfort levels for the characters as well as the readers. Every scene was engrossing and intense, whether it be through a character's moving introspection or some erotically crazy physical event. The peeks we got to see of Roman and Jeff were amazing. Those two are still so on fire with one another. Man, Jeff is one lucky guy. And the evolution with Dare and Zach and Thomas were beyond spell-binding, beyond intoxicating. Never did I want a scene to end. Wanted more and more and then more. Dare holds such a special place in my heart, so sweet and crazy-endearing in his efforts to concur his fears and reach for what he wants, what he needs. It was moving in a way I've never been moved before. But elements of Zach and Thomas turned out just as intellectually stimulating! They both kept surprising me again and again! It was fan-freaking-tastic! And while the happily-ever-after I was hoping for didn't come to pass, I just can't find it in myself to be too unhappy about it b/c SM wrapped things up so perfectly in her own right that I can totally see why things needed to be the way they turned out. The whole thing was devastatingly intense (in the most wonderful of ways) and deliriously delicious. I love this author's mind like nothing else and will be keeping a watchful eye out for all her future projects. Brava once again, SM! Brava!"

  20. Oh my! I mean oh, oh my. Thank you! I write to please myself, but publish in hopes of delighting others, and your words warm my heart and truly make it worth the effort.
